The Rev. W. Reginald Simmons

Rector

Fr. Reggie is a native of Mullins, South Carolina, a small tobacco town located on the banks of the Great Pee Dee River in Marion County, born the oldest of three sons to Warren and Fannie Simmons.

After graduating from Mullins High School in 1983, and The Citadel The Military College of South Carolina in 1987, Fr. Reggie was Commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Armor and Cavalry. Subsequent to his commissioning, he went onto serve our country as an Army Officer both in the Continental United States and abroad. After his time on active duty, he then transitioned into Healthcare Sales for the next ten years as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative, Medical Device Sales Representative and Territory Sales Manager for the likes of Eli Lilly and Company, Guidant Corporation and Bard Electrophysiology.

He entered seminary at The Divinity School at Duke University in August of 2006 and graduated in May of 2009 with a Master’s of Divinity and a Certificate in Anglican Studies. Similarly, he matriculated and graduated from Virginia Theological Seminary with a Post Graduate Degree in Anglican Studies in May of 2010. Fr. Reggie, then, went onto serve the Church for five years as a Theologian-In-Residence for several parishes throughout the Southeast before being ordained to the Transitional Diaconate on May 30, 2015 and to the Priesthood on November 21, 2015.

After ordination, he was called to be the Curate at Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington, DC for a year of service. Further, after this year of service as a Curate, he was called to be the Assistant Rector at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Southport, NC on August 1, 2016. There, he largely served as Rector until August 1, 2017.

Fr. Reggie and Kim are the proud parents of Savannah and Winston.

He began his ministry at St. Aidan’s on August 1, 2017.

 

The Rev. Joshua D. Hilton

associate rector for family ministries

Fr. Josh is a native to Georgia, growing up in Cobb County. He grew up in a half-Hispanic household, his dad originally from Atlanta and his mother from Havana, Cuba. Fr. Josh spent his late teens and early twenties touring the country, playing bass in a rock band. He also spent 18 years working in the restaurant industry prior to coming to St. Aidan’s. Raised in the Baptist Church, Fr. Josh became Episcopalian in college after seeking an expression of Christianity which upheld a middle way of faith with both Protestant and Catholic teachings. He completed a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies, with a Minor in Non-Profit Management in 2017 from Georgia State University. Fr. Josh then went on to complete a Master of Divinity in 2020, with a certificate in Episcopal Studies from The Candler School of Theology at Emory University. Fr. Josh was ordained to the Diaconate in December 2022, and to the Priesthood June 24, 2023. He has the privilege of being married to his wife, Rachel and they are the proud parents of thier son, Levi.

Charles Higgs

Director of Music Ministries

Charles is a native of Clarksville, Maryland. He holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Organ Performance from Westminster Choir College in Princeton. He holds a Master’s of Sacred Music from Mercer University in Macon, GA. He studied under Ken Cowan, Diane Meredith Belcher, and Robert Parris.

Upon graduation Charles was appointed Associate Organist at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Atlanta, where he served for nine years. Charles was St. Luke’s primary organist,  accompanying the chancel choir, directing the Junior Chorister Choir, and  collaborating on weekly liturgy with the music staff and clergy.  In addition, he planned and played at funerals, weddings, and organ demonstrations for groups touring St. Luke’s historic sanctuary. At present he maintains an active studio, teaching piano and organ to students of all ages.

Anita Hilbun

PARISH ADMINISTRATOR AND DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATION

Anita is from Alexandria, Virginia and holds a Bachelor of English from Georgetown University. She has spent most of her adult life in the Atlanta area, and she has raised two adult daughters and has a beautiful granddaughter. Anita spent most of her working life in the corporate world as VP of Customer Service with several Fortune 100 firms. She and her husband Andy moved back to Alpharetta in 2021, and immediately joined St. Aidan’s church family as congregation members. Anita is active in our choir, in the Folk Ensemble, and participates in many parish activities. She is a Hospice volunteer and is on the Board of Directors of Girls Inc. Greater Atlanta. She is delighted to have stepped down from larger roles in the corporate world and to be in a role supporting our church and our Lord.

Ms. Leanne's love of children began when she was ten years old and became the most popular babysitter in her neighborhood.  

Leanne was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois before moving to Woodstock, GA in 2019. She, and her husband Mike, have been married 26 years and have three children, Michael, Paige and Logan, a daughter-in-law, Olivia, two dogs, Dakota and Cooper, and the cutest grandpuppy, Oakley.

After spending 20+ years at home raising her children, Ms. Leanne decided to seek out a part-time job.  Ms. Leanne joined St. Aidan's Preschool in January 2021 as a lead MMO teacher, where she then moved up and taught the 2-year-old and 3-year-old classes before moving to the Assistant Director position in April 2023. Ms. Leanne loves working with children and enjoys all the fun at St. Aidan’s Preschool! St. Aidan's is not just a work environment, it's another family. She looks forward to working with your family this year!

Sam Locklear

Senior Warden (2024)

Sam and his wife Pam have attended Saint Aidan’s since 2021. They live in Milton and are blessed to have two beautiful daughters, Jenny and Jillian, two fine sons-in-law, Brian and John, and five wonderful grandsons, Sam, Nate, Will, Nosh, and Asher. They have been active in Anglican/ Episcopal chapels and churches throughout their lives, including their four decades of service in the US Navy. Sam is a U.S. Navy veteran with over 44 years in uniform, having served in numerous command positions around the world. After leaving the Navy in 2015, he served as a consultant on numerous global security issues and as a director on multiple corporate and nonprofit boards. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy (BS), George Washington University (MPA) and the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. He looks forward to supporting Saint Aidan’s as we seek to serve Jesus Christ and to do God’s work in his holy church.

Mary Kathryn Nix

Mary Kathryn Nix and her husband Gary have lived in Alpharetta since 1990 and have been active members of St. Aidan’s since 1996. Over the years, she has served St. Aidan’s in various ways. Among her areas of involvement: the search committee that called our second rector, Fr. Rob, children’s ministries, Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and the Stewardship committee for the past five years. This is not her first time on the vestry, and we are thrilled that she is lending her leadership talents as Junior Warden.

Emil Hoffman

Assistant Junior Warden (2026)

Emil Hoffman was born and raised in New York and has been an active member of the Episcopal Church throughout his life. Married to Jennifer for close to 60 years, they have three married grown children, along with seven wonderful grandchildren! After completing electrical college, Emil worked in the industry for 45 years, and ran a NYC electrical contracting company for 25 years. He was also very active in representing the needs of his co-workers in labor related negotiations. Earlier in his life, he was a member of St. George’s Episcopal Church on Long Island, where he was christened and was a member for twenty-one years. After marriage and starting a family, he joined St. Jude’s Episcopal Church, and he led the Jr. Judeans Youth Group, and was very active in the Church to enable deeper member and community engagement.

Ann Christensen

Treasurer

Ann Christensen has an undergraduate degree in biology and a Master’s degree in forest resource management. Her 38-year career with the U.S. Forest Service involved serving in a variety of staff and leadership positions, ranging from field units to Washington, D.C. After transferring to Atlanta in 1999, she served as Regional Director for the Outdoor Recreation, Wilderness, Heritage, and Volunteer Programs for thirteen states in the Southeast and Puerto Rico.  In addition, Ann volunteers at a local non-profit that trains service dogs for persons with disabilities. She specializes in caring for puppies from newborn to seven weeks old, along with their Moms.  She has served on the Finance Committee, she assists with Backpacks of Love, and she prepared a Strategic Planning Assessment for St. Aidan’s to provide a foundation of information related to the growth of the church.

Janice Howard

Assistant Treasurer (2026)

 Janice Howard lives in Alpharetta, and has attended St.Aidan’s since 2019. As a newer member, she has developed a real love for our church and our parish family. She is an active member of the Adult Sunday School class, attends book club meetings, helps us keep our grounds looking beautiful, and is a vital member of our Backpacks of Love team. She will work with Ann Christensen, our new Treasurer, to ensure parish finances are well managed!

Karen Vernon

Vestry Member (2025)

A native of Mississippi, Karen has lived in the Atlanta area since 1986. She has been a member of St. Aidan’s since 2001.

She and her husband, Dan, have lived in Milton for 23 years, and have two sons, Alex (32) and Nick (29).

Karen is a graduate of Millsaps College (B.A., English 1983) and has worked as a paralegal, a high school registrar/college advisement assistant, and most recently, co-founded Comeback Vinyl, a vinyl record store, in 2014 in downtown Alpharetta with her son, Alex. 

Karen is active in the choir and enjoys reading, discovering new music, playing tennis and traveling whenever possible. 

Foster Fitzhugh

After receiving his BSc and MSc, Foster pursued a career in research chemistry culminating with the position of Senior Vice-President of R&D.  His business experience and leadership skill included memberships on various Boards of Directors.  He is recognized as an Expert Witness in multiple jurisdictions He has been licensed as a Realtor in three states and was a multi-year member of the million-dollar club. Currently, Foster is a licensed broker and licensed instructor in Georgia. 

Allison Fisher

Allison Fisher is originally from Oak Creek, Wisconsin, but has lived in the Atlanta area since 2002. She currently lives in Cumming with her husband Jeff and their children Olivia, 9, and Henry, 7. The Fishers began attending St. Aidan’s in 2022 and have loved becoming part of the St. Aidan’s family.

Allison is a Lead Health Communications Specialist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology, and the St. Louis University College for Public Health and Social Justice, where she earned her Master’s degree in behavioral science and community health education.

Kim Hottenstein has been attending St. Aidan's since 2016 and she and her husband, Aaron and their two daughters, Alexa and Cassidy, live in Roswell. She was born and raised on Long Island and is a graduate of Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance and Psychology. She earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Columbia University in 2006 and is a physical therapist with her own mobile outpatient PT practice. She enjoys time with her family and friends, hiking, and taking dance classes when she has the opportunity!

Missy is an avid gardener, growing much of her family’s produce, and she also has expertise in canning and freezing the produce.

She even had a National Display Garden for the American Daylily Society, growing, selling, and showing 10,000 plants and some 800 varieties!

The love of her life has been her career in Adoption... Some forty years of flying all over the world to pick up sweet babies and bring them home to their waiting parents. She continues to stay busy with US adoptions. Her new retirement  age is 80!
